Broke my Fiskars Hookaroon a couple weeks ago. So I bought a couple that should be better and picked up a new wedge axe and a pickup axe.

Council Tools 3.5 lb Dayton, 36" handle with horrible grain orientation. 4lb Coundil Tools felling axe on 28" handle. Council Tools Hookaroon and I wanted to try a Logrote Hookaroon as well.

It's aluminum. It's way lighter that the fiberglass one.

I think logrite might make Stihls pickaroon also. They certainly look very similar.

Mine broke around the welded head & I had a buddy reweld it.

So the hex part that holds the pick part broke from the pipe? Also, does yours have the little roll pin going through the handle a couple inches below the hex part? I wonder what it's purpose is.

I think I read somewhere they did make theirs.

Yes, it broke the weld by that hex. I marked it with yellow. I think that roll pin is what holds the pick in place. There is actually a 2nd shaft inside that handle, at least the top part.

This was the one I was curious about, but it must have to do with the 2nd shaft you mentioned. I wondered why there'd be a weld and a roll pin, but a second shaft makes sense.

Hopefully mine holds together. I guess time will tell. I have a backup at least now.

I ‘think’ that Logrite guarantees their pickaroon. Would be worth looking into if yours fails.

I think Stihl would of warrantied mine but it would of cost me more in gas to drive to the dealer. My buddy charged me $5.

It might not function very long with the grain going sideways.

Who knows might last a while also.

Time will tell I guess. I'll run it till it goes. It's only to keep in the pickup. So it's not the end of the world, but frickin Ray Charles could've seen that it was a *s-wordty handle.
