If it were cut those stumps could stall a D8 Caterpillar .White oak takes almost forever to rot up .It's never going to happen while I'm still above ground .What my kids might do I'll never know .This entire group of houses sitting on 5 acre lots were once old growth until about 1973.Some time or another .it got plated and sold off .There must have been 50 acres back then and the one I bought was never built on ,the last one vacant .

Had a large old white oak stump out near the road, I've broken of small pieces every year for the last 12 years, who knows how long it had been there before we move in here as it was rotten "looking ", but very solid. This yr when I was breaking stuff off it I saw it move a little, half hour later it was out :clap2:, and another 15 minutes I had the hole filled in and graded nicely. Now I won't have to mow around it.
Yesterday I freaked out on a stump that sometimes catches my mower if I'm not paying attention and hit it at the wrong angle(usually in the fall when I'm going fast and the leaves are covering it). Ended up taking about the same amount of time and it was only about 8" at the stump. The area looked like a bomb went off as my bucket it 5'6", but I couldn't stop once I started lol.
Maybe I need to buy a stump grinder :pancarta:.

I've lived here 27 years and have a white oak stump I know had to be another 20 years before since it was felled .It's still hard as rock .Decades ago ,like early 80's on my uncles farm in Knox county Ohio I cut into a cull log of white oak cut in the middle 30's .About 1.5 -2 inches of rot but the heart wood was still moist and could have had some good lumber but short boards ,maybe 10-12 footers .It's not rot proof so to say but it is somewhat rot resistant .

The wood on the front porch of my shed is WO, as is the facia on my woodshed, and I've used it for trailer decking many times. Many of the suppliers of trailer decking sell it as it does well if it is used in a place it can dry out and it's very hard wood.
I have red oak on the outside of my woodshed that a buddy milled out of a couple large logs I brought him and my shed is all old barn wood, which I have no idea what species it is. I sure wish the black locust on our property were a bit bigger, I'd have everything done in BL as it's more rot resistant than WO. We have a good sized mill in the town we go to church in, I just let them know what I want and he custom mills it for me when they are milling WO, works great for my needs. Reminds me I'll need a couple boards for a trailer I'm building a couple of the ones on it are curling up bad.

The Mtd chainsaw works fine, the fuel flowed in the engine because someone unscrewed the screws H and L. For this replacement of the fuel cap because it was cracked. Of course, the cleaning is solid.

Mtd
from small things, replace the fuel lines because they are 12 years old and the drum bearing someone was pulling the chain too much you can see it on the chain guide
