2006 GMC K1500. I couldn’t buy GM, I was told NLA. I think they’re getting more serious about selling new vehicles. IDK..?? Ordered from a machine shop I’m familiar with. Spent $2400, it’s a month out.Ouch, that's gotta hurt. What's the year/make/model of your truck?
Well that's not as bad as I thought it would be. I know a tranny for my brother's 7.3 Ferd was $5-$6k+ so I figured an engine for anything would be way more.2006 GMC K1500. Or 3-4 years. It’s almost doubled in the last year. I will gladly accept a loss on it if the prices drop back down but I don’t see that happening in the next 2-3 years anyway.enough for half a year ;-)
...anybody seen any bar an chain oil 'round this joint?
What happened to the motor those are usually pretty good motors?2006 GMC K1500. I couldn’t buy GM, I was told NLA. I think they’re getting more serious about selling new vehicles. IDK..?? Ordered from a machine shop I’m familiar with. Spent $2400, it’s a month out.
Been a great motor it’s just an old motor. 313,000 miles. What happened to the motor those are usually pretty good motors?
Did you happen to check it with a manual gauge? On some of those motors they had a screen under the oil pressure switch and they would plug up over time new screen would fix them a lot of the time. Dorman even sells their new pressure switches with a screen. Manual gauge would tell you if port to pressure switch is just plugged or if another issue.5.3. That’s my guess too. Back at 115,000 I changed the oil pump pickup tube . The o ring was allowing air to get sucked in. Lifters rattled sometimes.
This was gradual. Sometime not too long ago the “range “ of the oil pressure dropped about 20 lbs. still moved up and down just at a lower range. Then while coming home one evening the warning dinger went off warning me of low oil pressure. The needle was all over the place. Got home , no knocking. Parked.
No I did not. I put in a new sender and got the same readings pretty much. All over the place.First I’ve heard of a screen under the switch. Do you just poke around and pull it out?Did you happen to check it with a manual gauge? Those look cumbersome on steep terrain..
