Ok I've heard this from a LOT of people about how less filing on a skip chain which I can agree with but I can't help but think about the logic. Guys come in "I only want skip so I don't file as much!" Each cutter is going to cut 'x' amount of wood. If you run skip obviously its going to have less cutters so yes in theory it does take less time to file.

Ok this is where my thinking has taken me (scary I know) but if you are running skip vs full in my theory wouldn't you be filing more often so in theory you will spend the same amount of time filing for the overall span of a work day?

Let's hear it...
I'd rather be interested in a "Full House" loop to play with. ;)

But I agree on the logic regarding chip clearance on longer bars - the wood chips have to fit in somewhere while the chain races through the log.
I don't care about lesser teeth to sharpen, bucking firewood is not my bread and butter.

I like full comp chisel on my 20" setup.
Full comp chisel works well on my 36" setup too, but to give skip a try I cut off every third top plate on one of my 115DL loops - generally I didn't notice much of a difference in oak. Granted, with the bar fully buried it seems to have better chip clearance.

Why full house?

Why full house?
For the fun of it when I use my Dolmar PS-7900 for branching?! o_O

Don't know, just to play with it - I like how Full House looks like. :)

Why did I purchase a PS-7310 last week?
I already have 70cc's covered by my PS-7900, and I don't intend to flip her either - on the contrary, she'll even get some new parts that I don't have to swap out as they will only affect aesthetics not functionality.

Why did I purchase carbide tipped loops?
I'm fairly good at free hand sharpening my Dolmar 099 loops.
I just wanted to try them out, no more no less.

Even if I never use it actively I'd still like a Full House loop for my big saws JUST FOR FUN.
Isn't that reason enough? ;)

Thank You for the offer, appreciate it!
But 1/4" won't fit any of my saws nor bars.
Are there rim sprockets for 1/4" in standard spline? o_O

I'd really like some 3/8" .058", but I guess that's wishful thinking.

Thanks again for the offer, I really mean it! :beer-toast1:

I could put you some together, don't have a clue what shipping would cost.
It would be a lot of work, but if your a wood carver, you mite really like it.

That is extremely nice of You to offer, but I don't think my curiousness regarding a Full House loop is worth Your time spinning an odd ball loop out of numerous individual preset's!
And no, I only know how to turn wood into chips, noodles and firewood - I don't posses the imagination nor brain/eye/hand coordination for carving.

Shipping from/to the US to/from Europe ain't such a big deal for small packages!
I've had a few successful dealings with members State side.
Shipping for a single loop should be in the ball park of 10-12$.

Money is not the issue, I'd compensate You - spinning a Full House loop just doesn't seem worth the trouble.

One loop is all I need/want to play with!

What would You estimate the price on one 72DL, 3/8" .058", preferably chisel tooth?

I guess I'll have to use two chains. Brake apart, put back together.
So end up being one chain, price of two or three.
This will be my first.

As said, not really worth the/Your trouble!

Nevermind my stupid ideas, they usually don't do me any good anyways, tend to fall flat on their nose.

Thank You very much for considering making me a loop! :)

Very expensive.
You want it squared also?
Aren't loops supposed to be roundish?
What kinda sprocket and bar do I need to run a squared chain?

:p

Anytime,
It would cut slow anyways.
But great for carving. That's what it was designed for
