If the chain is not mounted on a saw/bar, nothing beats this.

I am considering to buy a second one, but then again I reduced wood cutting to a crawl.
Yes and more is better if one has the space the money and need.

One set up for 3/8 left cutter one for 3/8 right cutter, third set up .325 does not get used as much as I don't run a lot of .325 and the fourth setup for rakers.

One of those automated chain grinders would be cool as well but the cost. $$$$$$$$$

4 grinders and yet at times I will throw a chain in the bench vice on a spare bar to do a quick hand file.

I also keep a modified stump vice mounted to a board to do quick infield sharpening as required if it makes more sense than changing chains, prime example is needing an excuse to take a 10-minute break from cutting.:risas3: or others who show up on a job site not quite as prepared.

AMA Maxx grinder does left & right hand cutters (not both at once, though!), the chain vice swivels as does the grinder head.

I'd like a second grinder permanently set up just for rakers as it differs greatly compared to tooth grinding.
Switching between a 3/8" (& .404") and a .325" (& 3/8" LP) wheel is not an issue as I don't grind many chains at all.

Although, owning 3-4 AMA Maxx grinders each for a specific chain gauge would be a sweet setup! :)

I was a freehand filer for decades till I discovered the Archer FastFiler roller guides.
Those made my chains drop through oak logs.

Then I impulse purchased my pre-owned AMA Maxx grinder and it is an impressive time saver compared to filing chains.

Evolution!

Never saw a MAXX grinder in person, or had the opportunity to try one.

We should start a separate, grinder comparison thread.

The $20 vise extenders work pretty well. Serrated and much thicker than I thought they'd be. Links are rigid all but one end and that one is more rigid than in a bar. Might be tight all the way in a better vise. 5 a side at a time with full comp 3/8.
