Just curious what glue you used? I haven't seen that happen with any of the handles here in the states.
Glue for wood, like is used for fixing chairs and/or tables.

I think it might be a matter of the ax/handles eye width, before I switched to using a steel wedge I had to reseat my ax 2-3 times per season.
And even the steel wedge came out over time, that's why I came up with the idea of securing it with a nail.

Maybe I just don't have a clue how to seat a ax handle - I admit it is possible.

The handles here in Croatia are mostly beech if that makes any difference.

OK. Thanks Wilheim. We, here in the states have access to several different glues. I was just curious. I wouldn't give up on gluing in the wooden wedge. Maybe even try the combination of gluing in the wooden wedge and using a smaller metal wedge for that good tight fit.

Not sure if this has been posted before. But I thought this was a cool reference for anyone into axes. Many brand name ax makers listed on here along with the history.

That’s an awesome site. I met a guy at the lumber mill yesterday who’s been collecting axes for 25 years, he literally had a couple hundred. Frigin ax heaven, he had some very cool European stuff also.

Now I’m wondering how mine will hold up. They seem tight, especially with the step wedge in there as insurance. Time will tell...

It’s funny we do an axe and are happy with it 100% then you see wilhelm’s strong axe with that big metal wedge and I automatically think oh no mine isn’t strong enough it’s gonna be loose as hell within a week
