Yeah good reference guide it’s amazing the different styles and I like some of the styles that are produced in mainland Europe between my house and wilhelm’s house I’ve had some axes from from southern France and they’ve been fantastic you need large triangle topped handles for some of them

I am amazed at the amount of different head styles. They must have experimented a lot with the slightly different variations to see what worked best in certain locations. Lots of trial and error.

I tried burning under the handle before fitment this time

This is how I fill the gaps on the ends knock it right and left at the start then straight down to finish

Are there any advantages or disadvantages of leaving about 1/4" of wood sticking out of the top of the head when re-handling? Or is it better to cut if off flush?
