IMO the cold steel tomahawk is a dang good deal for like 25-30$. I’ve used it for a lot of different things as well. Cuts well and holds a good edge. I made the cover and belt loop for it to be easier to carry

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I’m almost certain they’re hardened and are made of good steel. Just don’t have the experience with one to know for sure.

I got the sharpening puck from Hoffman Blacksmithing. Cheaper than Gransfors Bruk puck.
Hoffman's finest grit is 440. Gransfors finest is 600 grit.

I was splitting rounds using my splitting ax and went into the ground several times. At the end of the day I noticed some small burrs on the edge. I used the Hoffman puck only on fine side with water. 15 seconds on each edge. I checked the edge with my thumb and thought I was going to need stitches. Lol
These pucks work great!

Just looked at the one my wife got me. It’s a coarse/medium stone, 120/240. I may order one from Hoffman as I already have a 600 grit stone, need to bridge the gap for that fine polished edge.

I’m already liking it better than Tung Oil because it feels more like wood when it’s dry. If that makes any sense lol
