Local Goodwill store find for very few $'s. Haven't researched the brand yet. Anyone familiar with a Keen Kutter No.5? It has some heft compared to a double bit Plumb.

Haven't heard of them. It's a good looking axe.

Thanks for the info! From what I have gleaned so far......probably a Kelly, marketed and sold through a hardware store in St. Louis, MO.
Should be a good un!
Axes are like everything else..... they don't make them like they used to. Id take an axe from the yesteryears to the woods with more confidence than the hardware store crap today. Of course, the higher end axes are another story all together- hultafors, hults bruk, gransfors, wetterlings, mueller to name a few. Premium axes at a premium price.

Was putting my hand tools up today and thought it a good time to take a picture.
From L to R, CM cant hook, Kelly Works double bit re-handled by me, hookaroon by Dixie, Pickaroon re-handled by me, Husqvarna small forest axe, Jonsered log tongs, True Temper rock bar, pulp hooks from Peavy, hammer with half an ax handle by me, US mall re-handled by me and old splitting wedge.
Most useful - Pickaroon, use it all the time for firewood.(hookaroon is for pulling slabs off sawmill) Least used - Double bit ax. Would maybe like to add an axaroon in the future, otherwise pretty happy guy.

I know they aren't axes. Hopefully nobody minds. My Gransfors Bruks splitting maul, and my grandpa's Estwing splitting hatchet. I've got a few old American axes laying around. Maybe I'll dig a couple out this winter.

Nice collection , that small husqvarna axe is it a old axe or new

If you were talking to me, I bought that axe new 3-4 years ago. Like it, use it for plastic wedge knocking and taking with bucking up a tree as well, seems like there is always a little limb or two that got missed, re-fetching the power saw and starting it up can be more of a chore than just a little lick with an axe. This is why I would like to have an axaroon.
If you weren't talking to me then never mind.

I sometimes think it's a bit cluttered with the saws but I don't have a wife telling me I can't so....... I can !!
Be more axes eventually , I may have to rearrange at some point .

I may have a painter do a nice painting on the crosscut ,maybe something military to honor my father and past serving relatives and my 2 sons currently serving .
