I used Birchwood Casey Rusty Walnut stain. Followed that with several coats of boiled linseed oil.

If I remember right I used 60/80 grain for removal then went to 120 and finished with 320. The 320 wasn't really necessary almost makes the handle too smooth.

It's an incense burner that burns Balsam Fir logs to ward off harmful spirits for safety. Like when Vikings Christen ships.

That head should be balanced perfectly. Has 9 nails on each side.

Here is my collection. Nothin real special though. Double bits l to r . Round Craftsman, Juniata Blue(Mann axe), kelly, kelly red warrior ( my grandfather's ) and a 3.5lb plumb the others are 4lb
