What do You need chainsaws for having those?
They look like they'd do fine for milling too. ;)
The wife remembers her dad using them!!! He once showed me how to sharpen them years ago.
I just know I am not nearly as tough as those old loggers were, you never see a fat one in the pictures from way back when,,,

It's a Swedish brand that's been around for approx 130 yrs they are famous for making hand saws, fishing hooks , adjustable wrenches and the different axes
They make alsorts of axes from camping axes up too the felling axes and the winged splitting axe
They come into the market at a very competitive price a nice steel easy to sharpen the axe in the photo came in the door including shipping from the wholesaler at 41 dollars
Visit www.bahco.com click on English then international

For those of you who haven't heard of Bahco, it's worth a little looking at what they offer. Among other things, they make pretty good pruners and loppers. Also, of particular interest, they make some ratchets that are basically identical to the snap-on dual 88s. There's some very interesting threads on garagejournal about the ratchets. I can't recall if they're clones or if there's some shared corporate manufacturing or what, but they're basically snap on ratchets for a fraction of the price. I think a snap on rebuild kit works in them too.

Picked up a spare 40" handle for my ax yesterday.
DSC01171.JPG

The eye will not be a perfect fit on this one, but I bought it so I have a handle if my current one breaks completely.

My uncle promised to make me a handle out of bone dry acacia and I'll try make a handle myself from Cornelian cherry when I catch up with work.

Wilhelm I've seeing a few axe heads similar to yours on eBay for sale from Bulgaria but they don't look as strong as your splitter
That head will split a large oak knot smack down the middle, with a good swing of course.

The combination of handle length and head/blade shape makes it an excellent splitter, it is the best ax I own and the only one I use for processing firewood.

Most if not all ax heads I seem to encounter have a narrower shape at the eye.
