Finished my GBs with rusty walnut stainView attachment 47132
As a kid I remember a couple of brothers in their early 20's that fell 24"- 36" Doug Firs on their property in our every summer. They took turns and used double bit axes as saws were very expensive back then. I remember a large face cut and small back cut being their method. We kids would stand about 30 foot back and never felt we were in danger.Decided to put the saws down and go old school for a minute. Talk about makin a man out of ya!View attachment 47126View attachment 47127
That is the best axe made rignt there! That's really nice. I've got a jersey pattern head my dad gave me that I want to hang, but I've been hesitant because I'm not sure how to get the V part right.

By far the Gransfors Bruks 445 large/long splitting axe. This Ochsenkopf in the picture is a better chopper but will split small straight grains pretty well.Nice job Keith.
How does it split wood?
Of all your axes, which one stands out as the best log splitter?
