Should my friend bring a saw back to Australia?

A very good friend of mine is visiting Wisconsin. He lives in Melbourne. I know saws are stupid expensive there. I don't know what you guys would normally pay for shipping, but my buddy could probably bring one back with him on the plane. Or perhaps parts, if they're cheaper here.

I'm not suggesting that he but one and sell it on Craigslist (or oz equivalent), but wondering if A: a member down there needs something specific, and B: if my friend could make a few bucks for his trouble and still get someone a deal on a saw.

If anyone thinks this would be of interest, please let me know. He's here until the 17th of January.

FWIW I've shipped small parts to Australia and it's not outrageous .Although from Oz the other way they take a butt kicking .US mail is one of the most efficient and least expensive in the world .3 days from Ohio to the PNW or Florida and 4 days to Oz from northern Ohio . Tip,call it a gift under 50 dollars .

And our saws have all just dropped significantly in price. 661 1489usd rrp less haggling

That's awesome! I don't think I've ever seen the pro saws come down in price here. They did lower the homeowner models by $20-50 last year.

I kept reading about how pricey saws were over there and thought there might be a decent opportunity for a win-win situation. Glad to hear that they're more reasonable now.

That's a really cool offer to put out there for someone. The exchange rate is not the best at the moment. Good idea though!
Ok, so why are saws so expensive down there or is everything crazy expensive?

I've never been there, but from talking to my buddy, everything is more expensive. Well, I'm sure there's exceptions (healthcare for example, but don't want to start an argument).

He said he just found a decent beer that he thought was a good value for a craft brew at $22 for a six pack. That's about $16US. He said most craft beers cost more. Yikes!

saw spare parts here are very dear , its worth buying a saw over there and paying the postage
i try and get spare parts over there but postage is a killer , unless we have some one over there that wants to post it for us , rather than the shops or businesses
its always great tohave a contact for this sort of thing
