Mike, I’m not pickin on ya here. But if you don’t care about how fast your saw is, then why all this fuss about times and racing in the big cant?
Why do you have so many ported saws if you don’t care how fast they are?

I did not say I did not care how fast they are, I said they don't have to be the fastest for me to like them.

I like to have strong running saws, and I enjoy the competition, but my saws don't have to be the fastest, if I like em I keep em anyway.

You can have a good running saw that is not the fastest, there were lots of them at the event.

why are you ignoring me i said we would race in round hardwood crotches with saws and chains of our own

I haven’t seen a 55o that’ll run with a well done 346 especially one with the 357 carb and intake set up on them. Don’t get me wrong they both are great as I have one of each. But there is something about a 346 that just makes it special. The one I have now won’t ever be leaving

I ran both after I ported them in 20" beech. Slingblade's 2153 was a tick faster. And sounded better. But I've run other 550's that would put a smackdown on my 346's. In an 8x8 at least

Cool, I’d liked to run one of those 550’s.
I actually like how a 550/2253 handles better than the 346/2153 so to get one to be equally as strong would be great. The 2153 I had prior to the one I have now however wouldn’t hold a candle to my 2253 so it’s all who’s got them figured out for sure. Your 346’s run fantastic so to have a 550 beat one is saying something

I didn’t think you guys ever did a chain race. That’s when everybody files or grinds a chain, same DL to be run on a common saw.

I think the rev boost makes the 550 quite the brush/limbing saw. One thing I’ve also noticed is how much smoother the 550’s are than the 346/350’s. I like the 350/346 saws for general use better though and it’s easier to work on. Be interested to get my hands on a mk2 550 and see if they improved it a lot over the originals.

They raised the exhaust and transfer duration, and smoothed out some of the porting, which gave it the higher hp rating. Ported, they're nearly identical

Do you think they got rid of all the teething problems the previous generation had?

The ones I've done were newer. All ran well
