I learned to file good (at least half ass compared to some people lol) at the landing pretty good using full chisel lol. Last one tank of gas the wood I'm cutting. Logs sitting in mud and dragged in dirt, sometimes pebbles or stones sticking in bark. Semi chisel is where its at. Last me 3 tanks before I notice it getting worse. Full chisel cuts faster but dulls way faster so the semi will be out cutting it before long. A landing/firewood operation is semi chisel territory. I'd bet it lasts longer falling hardwood as well.

Thats why I went to 404
Squared up 404 lasts longer than semi 375 felling and bucking, if you keep it outta the stuff that kills it quickly (sand, dirt, rocks, etc)

Here is the 55 I just did.
First video is at 13k
Second is at 12.5
Pulling on her hard to seat the rings.
Pretty decent chain for round filed I think

I put a new AM piston in it, cleaned up the cylinder, deleted the base gasket, and messed with the lowers a little bit

To be honest I can file a round chain much quicker and with more precision in the field than I can a square. No shame in running round file

It already does where it's tuned. If your talking a stock 026. In fact my stock 55 always smoked my dads stock 026.
Ported I don't know...

For yall that haven't seen the videos in the other threads. P100 super 36" square ground @dall chain. Rattler ported 288xp 28" round hand filed chain. Wood was knotty seasoned oak.
I wanted to try that p100 at the gtg and got sidetracked. Very nice looking saw. Runs pretty good to.

That has factory closed port cylinder Dan? Would love to run it aside Tom's 51/55 open port that was built at your place. Did you grind out the stuff in the muffler and ditch the screen? Easy muff mod those.

As @Spike60 Bob would say it's nice to see that chassis type getting some love -- the 50/51/55.

Great saws.

My Nephew has a 50 with a 55 closed port top end on it, and a K&N filter (that does not like to stay on), but I like the way the saw runs. It is good for it's size.
