Yikes.
There are pros and cons of wearing steel toes.
If my toes weren't so squished and in pain when I wore them, I would be wearing them. But just not physically possible for me. Painful and uncomfortable.

I don't wear steel toe boots only because they are to much of a hazard when I'm working with cattle. If one of the cows steps on the steel toe it will crush the steel and bend them over your toes and you have to cut the whole boot apart and take vice-grips and bend the steel back to get it off. I have seen it happen before and it will break your toes.

That was pretty much What I was getting at. I have seen people with their feet crushed with steel toe boots.
Ugly situation for sure.

Yes it is. I found out the hard way.
I really only should have taken 4 strokes off.
The saw with that chain was a hand full. Very violent.

You can get you a gauge if you need. I use this one to take .025-.030 off the chains I've converted to square.

what kind of shoes was you wearing randy

Thin tennis shoes. My boots were making my back hurt, so I put on the light tennis shoes. About five minutes later I dropped the saw.

Why did you go and do that?

It sure weren't on purpose. lol

After eyes & ears, I think boots are the most important thing. I also prefer to wear gloves, they may not stop a moving chain but they help you to not get cut on a still one!

I've never worn chaps, don't think they had them when I learned to cut.

I hear they will require chaps at the upstate NY GTG this year, think it is foolish if they don't also require boots & eye protection.

Hope your toe heals quickly Randy.
