I usually have a 28" on it, usually big enough for me. It seems to oil that length plenty good. But yeah a 34 is pushin the limits of a stock 44 oiler.
I've been burnt on the tree size before so I go with one with a 24 or 28 and one with a 34. Someone will say it's 3' and it's 3' around or its 24" and it's 48".

My ported 460s will pull a 36" light bar very well, but even though it is a light bar they feel very front heavy with it. OK for bucking, but for felling a 066/660 power head will balance much better with that bar length.

My 044 balances very well with a 28" light, but I plan to transfer that to my hybrid when I get it. While the 044 cuts very well with that bar, you can't lean on it like you can with the ported 460s.

That's what I was going to use was a 36. Last summer I had a oak blow down that was on the edge of a creek. I've already cut it loose. And It's a good 40" tree so I would hate to leave it.

I've built one hybrid that would beat up my 460's and several that wouldn't.

It takes a good hybrid to be ahead of a good 460 but a 460 never impressed me much,a hybrid never did either until recently.

I don't think anyone has a 576.
Sure we do and it's doing a very fine job of filling this box!

The 576 needs love too!...it's a good saw. Here's one with very mild port work. The exhaust was raised 2° and that's all that was done.
I've had this thing back on the bench for a serious round of grinding since I took these videos. I haven't had a chance to run it yet because I went too far experimenting with the carb and ruined it. I have a brand new oem one sitting in a box waiting for me when I get done with the jobs I have lined up.
Here's a few runs with the 54" set up.
