Here’s why I thought to post the echo. This is a clamshell open port 345 husky I ported with no machine work and I swear it felt stronger than the cs490 that had machining and porting.
I believe it, I'm in the process of reporting a 490 turd I made last year. I thought I really messed it up, but it looks fixable. It's just so hard to see how things really look sometimes at the work bench with the lighting I have until I get it clean and under a lamp. My best 490 had no machine work and ran excellent.

The cs490 are like the 350/353 husky to me. I think the answer for that wasn’t machining rather than just epoxy the upper transfers and getting the blowdown right. Just my opinion.

This is my ms460 that randy did for me back in 2012 .
It was ported more for torque than rpm , in this vid the chain needs a rub its STIHL 46rm and holds around 10 000rpm in the cut .
Wood is dead stringy bark from memory it's a tad harder than oak .
