I'd send you one to play with, but it would have to come back with some Mike Lee magic...you understand, I'm sure lol

I have no lathe or right angle tools anymore. I’m pretty well out of the game now for good. I can do a muffler here and there but that’s it.

the 50mm husky is ...uh... another porters top end. that saw was sent to me, and I ended up reworking it from the cases up...as those saws tend to need.
the 52mm husky is the cheapest bb kit I could find, decked the case, decked the head, popup, caber rings and ported by me. the saw (cases etc) was another previous build by someone else... and has been an experimental piece for years. its got new bearings, used oem crank (previous one was am, probably the only am crank i've used, and it ate itself possibly because the previous head was off kilter... sound familiar? .. no more am cranks for me!) , new seals etc... just put it back together and handed it to mason for testing. again, just playing around. glad he found the gunk in the carb!
the 660 is a warhawk topend that again, just playin around ... we were trying to make run. that 660 asian kit has been worked over with lots of other am and oem stuffs. overall a fine running saw but i've been trying some different heads on it just to see what works and what doesn't. i decked this head nearly . 070 and it still isn't freeporting. hyway popup was only .015 to start so I increased it to .040. BUT, the intake ended up at 90, so I filled it with jb and ported it to 99 120 79...
the 394 is my build, with another's head... again, built from the cases up by me. it's seen very little run time, so I had mason take it for a spin...
i rarely get to run stuff myself because I don't have wood or property, but Mason's been having fun so thats cool with me. gonna keep playin and see what works and what doesn't!

View attachment 218276 Same 28” bar, full comp chain and 7 pin sprocket on all. Wood was frozen hemlock scrap. The 572xp and 390xp are stock saws with mildly opened mufflers. They are good baseline saws... since we all know they are rated at 5.8 and 6.5 horsepower from the factory.
Thanks for taking the time to do the testing Mason. I’d love to see a 20” test.

I’m not so sure the 361 pump can oil that 28” bar, we gotta get a 460 pump on it.

Even though the 361 is the 2nd slowest of the bunch, I’m pretty happy with how it placed. It is 58cc after all.

There is no replacement for displacement, especially when the bars get longer.

Yeah, this is a lotta work for Mason, but the results are pretty fun. frankly I think all the saws did great....maybe with the exception of the gunk in the carb on the BB. they are all different and have their place...feel different, run different, different power band etc.

Mason is really doing me a solid running my stuff, as it doesn't get run much. If something breaks, live and learn and we both get vids out of it. he has access to all the saws in my shed at any time, so I think the comparisons will be ongoing. Thanks Mason! @huskyboy

and thanks DD @Definitive Dave for the cannon bars... they look great!

I had a little time today so I dug some smaller Red Oak logs out that were under my wood pile, cut and split them.

My MOFO 360 got the call of duty … dang thing went through that Oak so fast I had to check to make sure it wasn't punky … it wasn't!

Stuff was cut 1.5 years ago in the Spring, and when I split it with the X-27 it is still wet and heavy … that stuff is unreal!

Should dry out nicely for next year now that it is split!

I remember Al wanted to re do the cylinder because it had a little flaw … I told him to leave it just they way it was, that I thought it would be a great runner, and it is! Could not ask for more from a 60 cc saw!
