This section should be posted in all the threads like this or those who take the bait from these YouTube self proclaimed porter’s. Maybe we can get a front page link for all the ope builders so people see it right away.

We could ask @exCanuck to make the builder's review section a main forum. I think then it would be on the initial page.

I’ve been lurking on this site for 10 years and only realized about the builders’ review section in the last month. It’s definitely not very prominent.

A deep dive into OPE nostalgia.

47 Big Ones ... that changed how our peace loving friend from Vancouver Island does business.

47 Big Ones ... that inspired the then famous father/son fist shaking video.

A few bad apples were uncovered, as a result of our great OPE family.

So how does a builder become an approved builder? Is there a test or something? Not really a question. I'm just thinking that they're may be some new builders that don't have enough street cred yet to get a review but can build a fine saw.
Maybe they could mail ported p/c to one of the goats for review?
Going to a gtg would be ideal but they're a long way from the west coast usually.

The biggest thing around here was always showing your work and posting videos, customers coming forward with nods of approval, and going to get togethers to meet people allowing other members to run your saws. And they need to be on this forum. The whole idea behind it was that the members typically would help other members if someone in the builders list screwed them over. But outside of that list you’re on your own.

I have been rebuilding/working on saws but have not tried to port one yet. Figure I will let the pros do what they do and keep the business going. I just do not have the time to do that much work on a saw. Or maybe just do not want to haha.

@huskihl @Stump Shot @Definitive Dave @stihl livin @jacob j. @59billy @David Young @SOS Ridgerider

The problem is that everything can't be "most prominent". We have two main forums where this could go:
Build Thread Archives (less subforums so easier to find them); and
Chainsaws (lots of subforums so harder to find them).

Build Thread Archives

Chainsaws

Inside of Chainsaws, we have
Saw Builders (https://opeforum.com/forums/saw-builders.87/) which got removed from the subforums list sometime in 2024, AND
Builders Review (https://opeforum.com/forums/builders-review.114/).

Where do y'all want the Builders Review forum to reside, at a top level or inside one of the other two top levels?

"Just make everything louder than everything else."

I've changed my mind five times in three minutes. "Chainsaws" makes the most organizational sense, but its definitely cluttered in there.

How big of a problem does everyone think this is?

I'm all for putting the builders review sub-forum inside of the Build Thread Archives and renaming that forum "Builders Review and Project Archives" or something similar. What sez you boys?

My .02 is that this thread should go in Builders Reviews.

The trouble is people pay more attention to the stickies at the top of the Chainsaw forum than they do the sub-forums. So where does Builders Review go? I don’t think it needs to go anywhere, certainly not buried in the build threads page that has very few build threads.

Alternatively, builder’s reviews could be it’s own sub-forum in the for-sale section. But that might bring all kinds of new problems.

Originally Randy wanted to keep the builder review section separate from anything to do with the classifieds/trading post to minimize mission creep and I think that's still a valid premise. The Build Thread Archives forum doesn't get many views so re-purposing that forum might be a worthwhile endeavor.

I'm all for what the builders want to do.

Maybe someone can pose this as a survey inviting the BUILDERS.
Should the Builders Review be leveled up to a main forum of its own?
Should the Builders Review forum remain a subforum?
If it remains a subforum, under which main forum should it reside?
