Since we're talking about porting, doesn't it seem obvious I'm talking about the cylinder?
Yes obviously. I’m more confused by you stating that “they” designed, cast and machined a cylinder. Rip saw? Are you asking why stihl doesn’t port it? “They designed it, cast it and machined it”.

I think that we are basically saying that apparently it’s not as easy as loading cylinder on a fixture and “writing a program” and smashing that green button.

Exactly what I'm saying. If it was as easy as clamping it in a fixture and letting your cnc machine port it, Stihl and Husqvarna and Farmertech would do it at the factory.

I am gonna have to respectfully disagree , I think they design & engineer them conservatively for multiple reasons.
But thats just my opinion

I'm never gonna get over adult men wearing sleep wear in public! Or sweat pants ,unless you're leaving or going to the gym.
I don't really give a *s-word about what other people do, but shame seems like a thing of the past.
It's a good week for me if I can get a fair amount of running around town done and not see a bare ass or two. Awhile back there was a gentleman standing on the corner of a busy intersection with his drawers dropped to his ankles. That one was pretty funny.

What would be cool if some company would make a quality aftermarket cylinder ( material same as OEM ) that meets material specs & quality and dimensions of a ported one. Kind of like the big 3 automakers have a line of high performance components such as cylinder heads, cams ect..

The owner of this forum had Randy port a 660 to have an Asian company cast it. Worked for a few copies but after a few months of production the quality was shot and they needed work to run right. So the idea was scrapped

Cross cylinders was the brand. As I remember, the first preproduction ones they shipped to Randy were really nice, good enough to get his stamp of approval. But the production ones were your average Chinese hit or miss.

Recently I went to buy a giant fake fiberglass rock! Lol to cover an irrigation pump for winter.
The factory had all these cool race car bodies and a 40' baseball bat !
The owner told me that all the molds are privately owned and he can't sell anything from them , he would if he could .
Mahle probably would do some HP cylinders , but they're probably not allowed. I'm mean it's kind of hard to ignore the way chainsaw stuff has blown up.

As a newer member, any more info on this? I’ve got a couple saws I’m looking to port and would like to know who to avoid. Thanks
For the newer members, let's not forget the previous outfit hyped by this individual only to be exposed here.

Once it cut into their bottom line, the famous father/son fist shaking video at our former mod.

There is a builder review section
This section should be posted in all the threads like this or those who take the bait from these YouTube self proclaimed porter’s. Maybe we can get a front page link for all the ope builders so people see it right away.
