I dig it. I should buy a 2156 with a busted cover so I can try it…

I recently discovered a mesh filter 4stroked 1,000 rpm higher than a felt one on my 61/266. Simply removing the filter and retuning to see what rpm it tachs at and running a couple cuts would reveal if additional filter area was needed I think.
But the stack also has the velo thing…and more filter to get dirty before it plugs up…

@davidwyby You most certainly should buy a busted cover 2156 to try it!! I'll be doing a series on a bone stock 359 here soon to test ALL the steps of performance modifications from stock to ported. I'll be testing this stack and filter stock and with other mods. I have no dyno. So I'll have to rely on tach readings, timed cuts, & "gut feelings" for results.

If that filter adapter slides inside the factory elbow instead of outside it wouldn't that be a new restriction??

No. The factory filter mounts inside as well. You can see the intake horn is bigger where the filter mounts, than the actual intake "throat size." He did a good job ensuring the V-Stack adapter mounts exactly the same way as the factory filter. No more impedance than factory. 20211015_095117.jpg 20211015_095128.jpg 20211015_095150.jpg

I like the idea of a higher capacity air filter for the 357. What I don't like is the filter being exposed. I allready deal with this issue with my 2163 that sports a 372 HD filter with a hacked up filter cover. Sawing in inclement weather and steep ground is hard on any external parts of a saw.
What would be a real winner would be a 3d printed top cover that enclosed the big filter, kind of like the blue top eliminator back in da day

Out here cutting burnt trees in a dusty desert, I have found dust, dirt, and carbon gets past mesh filters. A little saw dust might not hurt, but a lot will, and carbon and dust will. Not as much with felt, but the felt gets dirty and impedes performance. Euc dust gets past the pleated felt filter on my 395. Can I add oil to it?

I’m going to have to get stacks/pre filters, and maybe hi tops for some of my saws.
