Wish I had gotten to cut it down so it wasn’t all hacked up but it was a free n easy pickup with the forklift on the way home from work. Big chunks squattin’ the F350.

Some buddies and are are gonna make some pretty stuff. Mesquite and something red.

Are you slabbing it right away? When you cut it best thing to do is stack it with stickers cover in tin and put it out of sunlight as much as possible along with keeping out of wind. Air flow is good but if it’s in strong winds all the time will dry them too fast. Buy some anchor seal to paint ends will reduce the drying speed and cracks on ends. If you don’t have any or can’t at the moment you can paint the ends with latex paint. Not as good but will help, use ratchet straps around pile to help keep them flat and tighten them as the pile dries

Stacked out of direct sunlight and wind it will be fine for quite some time. Big chunks take a long time to loose moisture in whole pieces with bark on. They will be fine till you mill it

Yeah After looking I think Seek might be off. We don’t remember it being weepy or having the big gnarly red blossoms.

@lehman live edge slab how do I keep it from drying to fast and cracking? It’s warm and dry here.
Paint the end grain, then as you stack it with sticks between the slabs, you can put saw dust on each slab. It will slow the drying process. We don’t have that problem with lumber here in the north east but I like to do green wood carving of bow”s and spoons, putting the carving in a pile of wood chips, shaving slows things down

We're supposed to have a little cold snap here in TN next week, so I grabbed a few loads of standing dead. Some of it is a little punky, but it'll still burn. I did stumble across some hickory and cherry that's ready to burn. I've got my porch pile in decent shape. 20201127_162304.jpg

Gave away a lot more than this, kept the large ones for myself though. Clear, fun to work the bigger saws, and hand splits nicely. In-laws had some trees removed, so when I take care of clean up I choose who gets wood!64A20C13-7664-447D-9088-747D5E287F5B.jpeg
