Here's a Hackberry (Hackleberry proper) that I picked up today with a buddy's skinny butt on the load for laughs:
hackberry.jpg
That's a 14' x 7' x 2.5' dump trailer for reference. Took the 346, 372, and 660, but never fired the 660 up. The only nasty piece was what's on the back of the tractor, and there's salvageable in it. It ought to be about 3/4 cord once I work it up.

I was incredibly thankful!!
@RI Chevy It's a nothing special '05 F-350, but it cleans up well:

I ordered the bed with a B&W hitch, so I could run a GN ball, or a 5th Wheel or a receiver hitch depending on the need. I wanted to do a spike kit for hay bales at the time, but I didn't have the coin... I'd like to do a 4500 or 5500 4x4 Ford or Dodge eventually with a Hydrabed arm bed for bales, and lifting logs. But, for now, it's a lot cheaper than a new rig, and I know how to keep it working. I just wish it was a 6spd manual, rather than the 5R110. The Ford auto is pretty good, but I'd rather have a stick.

It towed very well. it's a 14K GVWR dunp with an empty weight of about 4K, giving a 10K useful load. I probably only had 3-3.5K on her... The truck is a 6.0 Diesel, 4x4, with a 5sp auto and 4:10 differentials, so it pulls very well, but much above 65MPH/105kmH makes a significant mileage penalty.

I saw a lot

@Wood Doctor called yesterday asking if I wanted to help on a pin oak. Was under the weather, but he twisted my arm so met him about 8:00 am. Let him use my 562xp on the trunk. Took a couple of pictures of him suffering while using it.

Wow! That’s pretty epic. I’d be milling the walnut after swiping it with a metal detector.

Yes it will get milled. Will give it a run with the Garret detector. Also got two loader trucks last week. Honey Locust (no thorns) and very big Bur Oak. They had to cut the head off the trunk of the oak because it was over what the truck will lift. Rated for 8000 lbs.

One of my wife's book keeping clients has a tree company that I've helped with a bit. Running that grapple on the back of the truck can be sketchy when the weight gets up there, especially if you're not butter on the controls, and the whole grapple assembly you're riding on starts swaying independently of the truck!!!
