Nice job on matching the intake Dan. The am 390 cylinder I installed recently wasn’t perfectly matched to the boot, same story for the oem 385 cylinder. Not sure how much performance difference it makes but I would guess fuel would puddle easier if a lip was there?

@paragonbuilder excellent work. Your attention to the little details is awesome. All the little things add up and imo are what really separates an ok saw from one that makes a person say wow. I'm anxious to see these saws in some wood. I have no doubt they will be very impressive. Nice work buddy.

Any steps also create turbulence. Placed in the right place, it could actually improve performance. A flow bench would be good for that. But in the intake track I think we don’t want any. But who knows...[emoji41]

Put some swirl marks on your intake tract. Lol. Give ya a little vortex advantage.
Nice thread Dan. Cool to see all the steps necessary in doing one of these port jobs.

Dan,

I believe that you can use either the K10-HDA or K20-HDA in the 87, 120, and 144

Ok, thanks. Do you know the difference?
And can you get oem ones for me or point me in a direction?

Great work and attention to detail Dan.

Good pickup on the intake tract. Did you grind on the outside, or was it that way factory?

Are all of the saws running 87 carbs? Matching the intake may matter less on the ones that aren’t.

Thanks Doc,
I didn’t grind on the entrance, but these jugs were touched before I got them. At this point I can’t remember if it had been messed with. I’ll see if I can find some before pics.

Ryan’s is 87 carb, Kyle’s is a 120 carb.

I’ll go take a look a Kyle’s before I go to work and see how the intake looks. I noticed when matching it that it flared in quite a bit on the edge closest to cyl. on this one.
