Brad wasnt allowed here and he never stole from anyone I have heard of. Just depends on who you wrong I guess. ;)

Spreading the word and keeping people from being ripped off. I would want to know myself.
Anyone seen Dozer Dan? I heard he can be hard to get a hold of.

Man the artist formerly known as Definitive Dave is one eloquent, witty and cerebral intellectual. May I just interject that right here in this slow motion trainwreck? Let's all get on the drip so we can understangst what the hell he's talkin' about.

Sounds like another guy folks should be avoiding.

But from the work I have seen lately and disappearing with folks saws I wouldnt even think about using him either.

I havent had any dealings with him since 2011-12.

Saw building on forums can involve international transactions where sending saws back and forth is not really a feasable option. I think fairly calling out those who have known bad work or a number of bad dealings is looking after the community. Bad work is bad work, theft is theft simple as that. Ebay and other sites have a rating system and feedback one can go by, choosing a reptuable builder takes time and is not so simple. Their is only a small few I have complete faith in, I can't afford to gamble with my hard earned and have seen plenty of good folks been taken for a ride.

That's why I have stuck with Randy thru 37 port jobs and I got 3 more coming up next month. I've never had a single issue with him or a saw he has built for me, so why would I look anywhere else? I could care less if another builder builds a faster version of a certain model, Id rather loose a couple seconds and have the peace of mind knowing that Randy takes his time, and he stands behind his work. (I cut firewood not cookies) Its for that reason that he will be doing both my Solo 665s. There is a builder known for his 7900/681s, but Ive heard enough, from several different sources (with no hidden agenda) to be leary. The couple seconds isn't worth it to me. Now if he was an hour away from me, and I could meet him face to face.... that might be different. I chose Randy back in 09 to port my first saw after reading in silence for an entire year. During that time I not only evaluated the work, but the person doing the work. Ive been happy with MMWS. A person should pick a builder, establish a friendship, and stick with em. You can avoid a lot of headaches that way. Id say we got all the options we need right here now with jmssaws, mdavlee, tree monkey, and Miller. Scott (Tree Monkey) has probably forgot more about saws than most of us will ever know. He is brilliant with saws.

I would add scarr to your list too. Plus he mods the tools for use.

I could see reviews by actual customers (with pretty pictures naturally) of the whole experience of having a saw ported by anyone could be an awesome learning too for potential customers and a jumping off point for great conversations. Maybe any responses to those "builder experience" posts could be limited to only moderated responses by the porter and customer. Done right it would be amazing and generate a lot of interest without too much fight'n.
If in thread response was only the two people involved in the transaction, I bet it would be civil.
I am so optimistic!!!!

That's a great idea. If both know it's gonna be in the thread, it keeps em both honest too. We definitely need some way to judge honestly. I've seen a lot swept under the rug in the last 2 years...
