Porting differences- tuned pipe vs muffler saw

Throwing this out for discussion because I know very little about tuned pipes.

What are some things that tuned pipes like better than mufflers as far as port timing, size, shape, blowdown, volume etc.

Any and all ideas and theories are welcome.

Also, videos of bada** pipe saws required......

IIRC, more blowdown is better for a tuned pipe... something about the port being open long enough after the exhaust has been evacuated so the excess mix passes through into the pipe and bounces back into the cylinder, just before the port is closed off by the piston.

I may or may not be wrong... if I am, I will stand corrected by whomever corrects me.
