Of those suggesting Picco/LP, can I please ask what is the longest bar you'd run with a 50-60cc saw, and how are you dealing with chip clearance issues or have you not found that to be a problem?
I ask because the main thing making me think picco isn't the absolute duck's nuts is I haven't yet found a good recipe for chip clearance when a 20" or longer bar is buried. I have tried relieving the back of the cutters, and also turning a loop into semi-skip by grinding off some cutters, but i can't find a sweet spot. There's more performance in picco, I'm sure of that, but I can't figure it out.

LP is overrated for 50cc saws IMHO. It's ok but it's not going to suddenly solve your life's problems as some would have you believe. In my experience, It doesn't wear well on ported 50cc saws. Stock 260, just fine. But even a newer stock 261 gets hard on it. The chassis stretches ALOT compared to 325 or 3/8. I wore out the drive links on a new loop of PS before the cutters were even half gone. I do cut a lot of dead, dirty wood though.

I have or had 50cc saws of just about every flavor. If I could only have one chain on every saw, I would go with 3/8 Oregon LGX. Stihl 33RS is a little more aggressive than LGX and it makes just enough difference that it's too much for most stock 50cc saws unless you have a really light hand. Even then, I always feel like it's stressing the clutch too much. I have big saws for big wood so I don't really have much love for .325 It's mostly good for cutting larger wood than you should be cutting with a small saw. 3/8 is just fine limbing(I even prefer it) as long as you're keeping the saw revved up enough so the chain is not as grabby. .325 is more forgiving when limbing but I don't think it's better at it. 3/8 kinda whacks the limbs off vs .325 sawing them off.

On point with the OPs question, depending on how it's ported would dictate what chain I choose. On my 260 with 044 carb, I actually do like .325 with 7pin. The saw screams but has no torque to pull 3/8 efficiently for working. On another 260 I have with 361 carb and ported differently, it pulls 33RS just fine, as in it doesn't seem labored, although it is not as fast as the other saw is that's running .325. I have a slew of ported 50cc huskies and 72LGX just feels right on all of them. I liked LGX even on a stock 550xp. They always feel like they're being held back with .325 IMHO.

Read the first two post.
Best Answer is:
Picco 0.050 aka: 3/8"LP
If you have run it on work saws you would understand my point. I run it on everything under 55 cc.
Agreed. I run 3/8P Stihl on my ported 346xp with a Cannon C1 MOUNT Supermini 16"bar. Smoothest for smallwood and limbing. Alil tunneling on the back of the tooth, top back edge of tooth clipped off, rakers lowered and rounded and front and back edge of raker beveled and it gets pretty quick. Squarefile over on FHC did alot of testing for 3/8P, .325,& .375 which the 3/8P always topped the other 2

I dont run picco on ported saws. The chain is small and can easily overheat. 017- 250. I never ran picco on any bars over 16". If it can handle more bar it will get 3/8 fskip for stuff like pine 20" 8pin stihl 3003 bar. 260 gets 3/8 50 full comp 16. With a 20" I run fskip. Rarely run a 260 so...

Thank you. Reducing the profile of the rakers never occurred to me. Will give it a shot.
