LP is overrated for 50cc saws IMHO. It's ok but it's not going to suddenly solve your life's problems as some would have you believe. In my experience, It doesn't wear well on ported 50cc saws. Stock 260, just fine. But even a newer stock 261 gets hard on it. The chassis stretches ALOT compared to 325 or 3/8. I wore out the drive links on a new loop of PS before the cutters were even half gone. I do cut a lot of dead, dirty wood though.
I have or had 50cc saws of just about every flavor. If I could only have one chain on every saw, I would go with 3/8 Oregon LGX. Stihl 33RS is a little more aggressive than LGX and it makes just enough difference that it's too much for most stock 50cc saws unless you have a really light hand. Even then, I always feel like it's stressing the clutch too much. I have big saws for big wood so I don't really have much love for .325 It's mostly good for cutting larger wood than you should be cutting with a small saw. 3/8 is just fine limbing(I even prefer it) as long as you're keeping the saw revved up enough so the chain is not as grabby. .325 is more forgiving when limbing but I don't think it's better at it. 3/8 kinda whacks the limbs off vs .325 sawing them off.
On point with the OPs question, depending on how it's ported would dictate what chain I choose. On my 260 with 044 carb, I actually do like .325 with 7pin. The saw screams but has no torque to pull 3/8 efficiently for working. On another 260 I have with 361 carb and ported differently, it pulls 33RS just fine, as in it doesn't seem labored, although it is not as fast as the other saw is that's running .325. I have a slew of ported 50cc huskies and 72LGX just feels right on all of them. I liked LGX even on a stock 550xp. They always feel like they're being held back with .325 IMHO.
