I've gone too far with timing on this saw, it was bucking under load, not popping through the muffler above 13k

I've ran a stock key, it still popped.
I even went the other way and retarded timing, still popped over 13k, but very low on power

I'm 100% positive that the popping through the muffler isn't from timing.

@tree monkey, we've discussed this, I've done everything that I know of, (and I know @jmssaws has too) plus everything that anyone else has suggested to try to find the root cause of this. It's the mtronic, and if it were timing, my saw and probably a half dozen others would have been damaged or destroyed already

like I said, my says will run at 14,200 with no poping. that clearly means that they are not limited at 13,100

I don't have a tach that will read one.
A guy who analyze video told me it was always at 13.1

This 661 looks fast and it didn't pop much but that was months ago.

Sounds like this last one has way more power. Might need a long bar to bog it.

The rpms seem up there when it pops could be 14,2k. It's hitting the limiter so fast the mtronic sounds different.

It's hard to believe any tach when the tach encounters a rev limter of any kind.

I've spent several months messing with them and all I know is that there worse cold and if they ain't popping then they ain't running full bore and need reset.

Nothing I have done has made it completely go away,when there the strongest there popping.

Sounds and acts just like 4 stroking to me.

If I hold it wfo it stops and I can't make it go faster.
I believe that is what we call limited.
I'm running a 4700 and mtronic not a standard carb

Trooney's saw would stop but it was not as strong when it wasn't popping, reset and it would pop and be strong again.

It's 4 stroking,that's all it can be.
I've changed everything I can change.
