Not to derail but is it worth finding a KS jug and hda 87 over a mahle and hda120?

If having ported not really on the cylinder. Mahle will make a good candidate. On carb yes. If you can find one and someone is willing to sell it. They are unicorns and hard to come by.

People just want the KS jug and with hda87 combo because it is the hardest to find in original form. Its not that they perform better after work and prob not alot better even if left untouched. People just want them cause few have them. They are a 262 status symbol imo.
The 87 definitely makes a difference on a ported 262. I've seen it first hand on the same saw.

I'm betting that prior statements about there not being much difference between the two were based on stock saw comparisons.

Never ran a 562 but always enjoy running my 262. Was cutting cookies for a friend's rustic wedding centerpieces (can you believe there's a market for those?) and the 262 throws chips like a little beast. I use my 262 doing tree work as a work saw no problems it just runs and runs well.

Youtube recommended the 562 with 30" Tamara bar to me on a whim the other day. Subscribed to hotsaws101. His felling videos are the type you could watch over and over taking in the skill he has. I used to watch ax men mainly to see felling but they show too much yarder drama. Anyone who is highly skilled at what they do I watch with much respect. Skilled operators with plain ability are usually the most modest and nicest guys... and simply the best at what they do. Bonus that hotsaws101 is always featuring a hopped up saw of some sort in his videos -- usually something different each time!

Watch Jasha fall a tree. He is Treesling'r on AS

I've watched as many of his as I could find -- same thing watching Jasha at work he's a talented guy.

Most recent I saw was after he recovered from being hurt I think running a big Stihl with go pro on it. He had put music to it but YouTube claimed copyright crap...

I have both. 562 ported by Terry and a 262 self ported. Also a MM 2260. If it's a short day I'll take my 262, if I'm cutting all day I like the 562. I got the 2260 just because I'm addicted.

A bunny of mine has his own pulping business and he strictly runs 2171/2172's. I asked if I could go with him one weekend and he could show me some felling tricks. I will be bringing my ported 371 and ported 562. His saws are all stock by the way.
