I will say i have never seen any threads on 'why my hda87 carb wont tune right'. But theres alot of 562 carb threads even with updated carb they have been known to have issue. ( ported warranty voided)

Just saying.........
Let me guess your old carbureted truck never gave you issues those dang computers trying to fix something that was a problem? Everything will have issues in the beginning model years. Mine has the "bad carb" never had a issue.

I'm sure the auto tune carbs can be fine, but I just don't like them. I'm not seeing the point of the added complexity, it's not a car I drive everyday. They seem to be OK generally, but when they malfunction, they can do some damage for sure.

A ported 262 is a thing of beauty. All 3 of the ones we had at the GTG could put the hurt on an OEM stock 046 and weren't much slower than a ported 044.

I'd vote 261 port for years of trouble free use.

I like the 562 better myself. I wouldn't turn down a good deal on a 357. 262 I thought was ok. They run good but for a small saw it just didn't have something for me any way.

Are you going to be running it a lot? Run a 262 all day, then run a 562 all day. Theirs no comparison. Better AV, ability to run big bars if needed. Flippy caps lol, side chain tensioner, captive bar nuts. Life is to short keep the 262 and buy a 562. It's ok to have both!!! That's the only logical solution

I love my 562! If only had or needed/wanted one as it would be that saw. I also like it having the large mount pattern. I feel that it gives me more bar options. I'm able to run 16"-28" bar's on it without the hassle of trying to locate a longer bar in a small mount pattern. If your only going to do a mm on a 562 and buy new you will have your warranty still.

This is counter productive to me making any money but I have a 262 on the shelf that I haven't bothered porting because I have a muffler modded 562. It's only muffler modded because they are great with just that and I haven't found it necessary to port it. If I ever get free time I will port it but for now it's fine.

The 262 may be a fuzz lighter but all the other features of the 562 make it a far superior saw. Some things have already been mentioned like better AV, side chain tensioner, flippy caps, captive bar nuts. But other things that haven't are, great fuel economy, one pull half strength warm starts every time (unless you ran it out of fuel), easy operating chain brake, one touch auto-return kill switch, high idle and choke integration, and great oiler capable of oiling long bars. Then only think I wished was better was the air inject, the filters on these have to be cleaned more often than older air-inject huskys.

You guys are making things hard on me, but yea I'm really thinking this through. Worst part is I located a 562xp ported for $350 power head only . I guess he took the base gasket out and cut a pop up piston just enough to accommodate the squish band clearence. I'm still going to finish the 261/262 but I might as well buy the 562 for that price as long as it checks out

What filter are you using?

I wouldn't hesitate for that price! Parts saws are going for about that. If you think about it your getting the saw for $100!

As for the pop-up and base cut, iirc that is what's done to mine and then the port work. @rattler @mdavlee

If you have funds to have them both it's simple, both are stunning saws, if it was me and I had to pick one I would grab the 562, thats what I did with my JRed 2253WH, never had a reason to keep those 346/2153 I've had.
