This morning I fired up the pipe my daughter sent with a bowl of this stuff

It seemed plenty dry but may have been to moist but had great flavor & I enjoyed it.

I get a lot of bite from the polyethylene glycol they typically use on those fruit toppings like cherry. The tobacco never quite gets dry enough and ends up burning steamy and bites.

No tongue bite but I like the plum cake more. I think maybe I put too much in, I left it some sitting on the counter for about 30 minutes to air out a bit. The burn wasn’t great but maybe the nagging from the other chair of the porch was cause for my less than pleasant experience

I haven’t had the borkhum in cherry but had the original. For a “codger” blend I like carter hall well enough

I set out some Nightcap for about an hour & then nuked it for 8 seconds. I am going to try it tonight.

It was ok, nothing too wild on the flavors. The pipe I used had a smaller dia. bowl than the other one. I believe I packed it to tight again. I had to fidget around with the finger on the pipe tool to stir things a bit.

I just need to be able to relax & get a cadence going & I will probably be fine.

That’s how it was for my first couple dozen bowls. There are a lot of variables to keep track of. You’ll learn something new from each bowl. I tend to pack the bowl what I would characterize as loose because it’s always easier to pack it tighter with the pipe tool if it needs it.

One piece of advice I got early that helped was to pick one blend( like that early morning pipe blend) and learn how to smoke just that blend. The idea behind it is having a consistent medium to learn with. Eventually you’ll just pick up your pipe, pack it, light it, and smoke it without much thought beyond picking what you want to smoke.
