I stumbled on to this yesterday on Georgia's camera and I think it's 6-7 years ago .This is an EAB killed ash I used a Partner P-100 on .The saw got a total rebuild because at that time it didn't have the guts it should have had .Fact the Stihl 038 Mag would out gun it

For the first time since owning it, I ran this R16 I bought because I thought it was “purdy “ . I got the engine running pretty quick but the oiler didn’t work and I’ve just got that squared away. Had the saw 4 years about and this is the first pic where you can see oil on the bar and heat rising from the top. I kept thinking that this thing screams for a 50cc. I came inside and looked it up. 55cc lol ! Knew something was up. image.jpg

Yep know the feeling, played with the new to me S50 (newer model of an R16) this weekend (after tinkering on the acquisition) and after the first half tank of fuel knew that it will stay in my collection.

I really had some fun with these two this weekend. I’m new to Partner and I’m just learning what great saws that are. Plus this seemed like a cool pic. D6B7CD2F-902F-421A-B6FD-6D58621EC3EC.jpeg

The only difference that I could see is the P-100 super has a side brace on the handle. If you use the bar plates for a Husqvarna 2100 you can use Husqvarna bars .

P100 and super have different piston and cylinder numbers, so I think they are slightly different / I do not have H2100 :)

Within the last two years I did total rebuilds on both a P-100 ,McCulloch version SP 1000 and a Partner P-100 super .From what I could see there is no difference except the extra brace which was added for extra strength .I had two complete saws plus an extra crankcase .By using the best parts I came up with two complete saws . As far as the Husqvarna plates those are much less expensive than P-100 plates .Of which I have both styles .With the Partner plates some McCulloch 10 series bars will work and some will not depending on who made the bars .They were not exactly all the same for some reason .I forgot exactly where the Husqvarna plates came from, either Great Britain or Germany by way of E-Bay .Took about 3 weeks with the shipping . I might add though the perfect replacement ignition coil is a Husqvarna 272 coil which are inexpensive after market .

I used an unlimited 272 coil in a S50, (per Al's suggestion) super easy install, minor mod to coil mounting bracket to be able to gap coil to flywheel to whatever you may desire, and it runs and starts excellent,

both p100 saws have a T port / earlier 100cc models with a different designation had a decompression button

About those coils .I had an idea something besides a Partner coil could fit .By going through flea bay for a couple of weeks I found the coil from a husky 272 that they gave the dimensions with the bolt hole locations laid out . With that I thought it would fit which it did ,Since then on several forums I've been told other coils will also fit .They made two mounting assembly brackets ,either one will work as I have both styles .
After tinkering on stuff most of my life I've came to realize you always have options but you have to search for them .However it might be such a thing the trigger device for the "ignitron " type coil could be replaced with an "Atom Arc " trigger device as another option .To even find an OEM Ignitron unit would cost more than the entire saw is worth .
