You won't regret buying a Silky, they are light ,tough and fast.
Do you also use the power pruner....as I stated I can't decide which to get "right now"....

I ran a 133 twice this week.. we got one about 2 weeks ago or so , kinda heavier feeling if you have vagitosis but it cuts pretty quick with 1/4 pitch chain.

I like it.
LMAO, luckily I do all my work myself right now, so I won't have some *pretty boy beating the hell out of it, and don't have to hear anyone *b-word about working LOL!!

The 133 is lighter than the 131....it also has some new features....

Do you guys use hand pole saws too....

It feels kinda big .. thats probably just my opinion.

Ya we have a hand pole , its a piece of *s-word...its old as hell and dull as can be so my opinion is useless on that.

I have a very inexpensive Poulan like 200 bucks new .It's nothing to write home about but it does work and has saved me a lot of work .I wouldn't however recommend it for professional work .

They have some nice hand pole saws, but we all know a dull blade would make any look bad...

The only thing about the kombiis the weight, and I still don't think it would reach as far....

has the 131 been a good one for you....the new 133 has lost weight and has a lot of new features....

I am torn right now between the hand pruner and the power pruner.....I have a feeling I will eventually have both....just want to get the one I will use the most first!!!
The 131 has been great but I would go with the Kombi if I had it to do again. Most pro's as going that way for a reason. I also have a Silky 16 foot I bring as a backup but haven't needed it. I have not checked out the new 133 yet. I wonder where they shed the weight. A less expensive or better designed tube to replace I hope, though I haven't had to on mine yet as I am careful not to pinch it.

They only lost like 1.2 LB.....I wonder how many extensions a guy would need on the kombi unit to equal the full length of the 131/133.....

Do the connection points on the kombi stay strong, as you put more extensions on???

Either one is going to have similar affects on you. I think it comes down to which one you want to deal with, the silky is going to work your arms pretty good having the manually cut the branches and the power saw is going to wear on you holding the pole saw up in a tree. Many rent a powered pole saw for a day and see how you feel after using it for the day.

I have both a Stihl HT101 and a Marvin pole saw/pruner.
My opinion is that they each serve their purpose. However, if I only had one, I'd keep the Marvin. Why?
1. The HT101 runs well but is very heavy if you use it for long. It works really well for trimming branches away from a house if you're on the roof.
2. The HT101 is long even when collapsed. It sticks out the back of my GMC which has a camper shell on it. Thus if I'm stopped at a store/restaurant, I can't secure the saw or anything else in the back of the truck as the topper glass has to remain unlatched for the saw to stick out.
3. The HT101 is one more "engine" that needs to be maintained.
4. They're expensive. I paid $350 for mine used. (but near new condition)

On the Marvin:
1. It has six foot poles so will fit in any of my vehicles including my Chevy Cruze sub compact.
2. It requires no maintenance
3. It can do everything the HT101 can do plus.
4. It reaches a lot farther (I have 3 poles @6' and 1@4' for 22' total length.
5. It's quiet. (a small consideration but a factor in residential areas)
6. They're not cheap, but cost a lot less than a Stihl powered saw.
7. Can help set pull lines.

I have the pruner head with the Marvin but rarely use it. Almost always use the saw. So if you're not sure which to get, get a pole saw/pruner first and you may never get the other. I bought the HT101 first and added the Marvin later fwiw.

I have an old Redmax, It doesn't get near as much use as my manual saw. They are nice for certain applications, easy as hell to get pinched.

The Kombi unit I looked at could have different length extensions applied and it's total length, using the long extension was pretty close too my 131 extended. I haven't used the Kombi connectors myself, and too was concerned about loose joints as well. I spoke with several pros using them and they have had no issues. My early ht 100 can switch from saw to trimmer head with two t27 (saw) and four t27 ( trimmer) bolts. It always stays nice and tight.

Yes and no, when the blade is sharp it is astonishing the speed which it will cut softwood. Anything over 5 inch and I rule out the manual pole saw because I'm fat and get tired easy hahaha
Which silky do you have...I am about to just get the haayuchi that extends to 21' and be done with it lol...

Ya it has its limits. I use a 10ft Louisville extension ladder
I use a 6 foot orchard ladder and will likely get a 10 foot one. I used to like the 250 better but have grown to like, or notice the weight less, the 131.
