heres that old 15hp, like I said good running motor just needs a coil because even though it runs the one is so rough that probably would quit if it got humid out. Also should put a water pump in it. The tank fitting needs o-rings and I have a full kit but not sure what o-rings will handle the fuel. I think the ones in my set are nitrile.

I’ll put up a picture of my old craftsman drill press, buddies grandpa bought it new and it was unused in his basement for 40-50 years. Never had a lot of use in general or heavy use he used to build watches some for fun I guess

craftsman drill press made by king sealy, supposed to be a drill press/light duty mill from what i was reading. Got the press and the indexing vice with it when I bought it from my buddy. Has a small Morris tapper on the spindle, never even attempted to do any light milling with it .

and my lathe that I still haven’t used because I need to figure out how to wire the switch back on it. Took it apart some so I could get it out of the basement when I got it. Was pretty heavy coming out of an old house with steep steps.

Chuck jaws look good.
Watch out for whatever is getting spilled onto the lead screw though.

Not really a “restoration” but a rebirth. Bought this 12” jointer for like 100$. The company hasn’t existed since 1910 ish I believe so this jointer is 110-140 years old. Oh had an enormous cutterhead with only two knives. The motor was long gone. Tables were flat and had all the modern adjustments.

I wanted to swap out the cutterhead for a more efficient one so I had to remove a bit of metal from the rear clamshell. I also had a machinist make bearing sleeves that would hold the new cutterhead into the clamshell design.

The cutterhead was a used Craigslist find and I eventually upgraded it to a segmented version.

Of course had to add a motor and way to tension it. I also modified the dust chute to connect to my dust collection pipes. Only thing left is a belt cover but I doubt it ever had one and I’m the only one that uses the shop so not worried about it for now.

I’ve run thousands of board feet over this thing off my sawmill. Old American iron [emoji123]

I have a big drill press that I use for light milling. Has a morse taper spindle too. Does a pretty good job.

Some nice tools guys! keep 'em coming.
I always wonder about the last owner whenever I see a nice catch on something like that lathe & drill press that lehman live edge slab picked up.
Yeah, sometimes I think too much about stuff like that.

Well the drill press was bought by my buddies grandpa new and had been inside it’s whole life usually the basement of a house. He had the indexing vise for doing watch work I guess. None of it has much use, the lathe came out of a rental house that was getting sold and the lathe had to go so was sold to me cheap as long as I was willing to do the work to get it

This is from the 40’s too.

Kinda cool. Came out of a small machine shop locally. Been there the entire time. She has been used and abused

Like a 12x36 craftsman haha, I’ve had at least 10 people try and buy it off me. It has flat ways so you can’t take heavy cuts with them but anything I’ll ever need it for will work great.
