I remember a Popular Mechanics type magazine (can't remember which one) did a story on basic auto body and paint work. They took a car with tired paint and mostly straight sheet metal and did an A+ job, the finished product looked better than new. Their choice of car? An 80's Lebaron convertible.

I thought it was magnesium but its to heavy. Not aluminum either. The gear box that is. Non ferrous.
White pot metal.
Type of cast metal used since the thirties.
Just found a 1939 Dodge Deluxe tail light bezel in my shed on the floor. Damn squirrels are in there again, pissing, chewing and causing general mayhem.

Considering selling my 68' Wheel Horse and not restoring it. I still have the snow blower goes on the front. Might be a plow out there also. The deck is... around here somewhere.

My 9.9 Rude is stuck, bummer.
That could be a nice resto here. Ported, updated to a 15hp carb ported and a timing bump. The head could be shaved.

The 57' Merc Mark 30 remote is another good one to resto.
Must have about half the hardware for a 57' Chris Craft it was on originally.

Or maybe your more geared toward Coleman lanterns and stoves?

That transmission will outlast you great grand kids.
My grandpa's old '69 F250 has a NP435, probably 300,000 miles on it with nothing done to it except for oil changes and it's still going strong 'n' shifting smooth. One person learned the hard way that 1st isn't synchro, though. The ensuing "bucking" made the ash tray shoot out and spew coins all over the inside of the cab. 20 years later you could still find pennies under the seat from when that happened and the person still refuses to drive the truck.

I like the idea of this thread. I have enjoyed many restoration projects over the years, and I always enjoy reading about other restoration work.

I like it too. I don't have time to do half the things I'd like to, but I can look. LOL

That transmission will outlast you great grand kids.

It evidently has some serious miles on it. Needs a few shifter parts, but still works well.

I was just staring at this old girl thinking I should give it some new paint, tines and rear rubber.

One of my neighbors did up their bar rake. Turned out nice. I'll get some pictures when I cut his hay.
