@beaglebriar @Czed @41FanForLife and any others with helpful suggestions...

Here are some pics of the end of the deck. Rim is a single 2x6. Ideally we’d be looking at a standard lattice privacy screen 6ft or so high. Now that the cedars are down it is wide open to our neighbours.

Park a ratty ass van on blocks next to walkway.
Blocks sightline to neighbors, lowers property tax and can be used for saw storage.
Win all around.
Your welcome Gary!

We ran composite decking
3" screwed to horizontal layed
parallel 6x6 treated post's.
Around my friends hot tub
He's in a wheelchair and it's very sturdy
And simple
If the posts rot we can reuse the composite treads on new post's.

The treated tends to warp badly here with the high humidity.
And he has trouble rolling over them.
That's one idea.

Bolt 2 or 3 4x4 posts to the rim joist and frame it in with some 2x4/2x6, add lattice. Should be straight forward as long as you can get to the backside to nut it. I don't like lag bolts much but it's an option.

if you look at the one picture it kinda looks like plywood between the layers of framing so may not be able to but the carriage bolts on the inside
I don’t like plywood as a outside flooring

But that’s where my weed garden grows...

Cut the roof off.
Roll plastic across when needed.
Now you have a privacy screen, saw storage, greenhouse, and property de-value'r all in one.
You could even build a meth lab where the engine used to be.
Thats multitasking at it finest.

Also it looks like the upper layer of framing is not a structural unit and just built on top of the old framework so not sure how sound it would be with a 6 foot fence in windy conditions or if someone fell or leaned against it
Right, the whole deal looks kinda funky.

Could do posts in the ground and keep it separate from the deck altogether.

This.

Set some posts in the ground with cement. Thru bolt those to the rim joist of the deck. That would be incredibly strong. Just drop the posts into the hole, and bolt them to the deck and make sure they are plumb before adding the cement to the holes.
