Lots of BS indeed, but I have been lucky; in getting good PM’s on base.
I’ll be over there on the 14th for some meet and greets.
You text me young man when you’re here...(478)955-6194. You can see the hangars and birds up close and personal.

It’s amazing when I think back on Marine Corps aviation...they were still flying A-4/M Skyhawks and F-4 Phantoms when I joined the Corps, both aircraft developed well before the Vietnam War. I worked A6-E Intruders and EA-6B Prowlers, both those aircraft kicked ass in Vietnam as well, both designed many year prior. AV-8/B II Harriers were the latest greatest thing....now these Jarhead aviators are cruising the skies in F/A-18 one seater/two seater Super Hornets and E/A-18 Growlers.

The Sky Pig Intruder was the *s-wordt...would rattle your eardrums. Only bested by the F-4 Phantom...and Super Hornets are bad loud...you can’t stand to be near ‘em on engine runs. I’ve only dealt with a dozen or so Super Hornets over the many years when they land at Robins, whether Marine Corps or Navy birds.
They some bad ass fighters!

EA-6B was the most god awful noisy piece of shiit birds i ever had to work with. Harrier? No problem. Hornet/Super Hornet? Easy day. C-130, C-17, C-5, IL-76, hell we even fueled the last combat flight of the F-14. Prowlers? Nope, phuuuck them things.

Oh yeah, you are old. Gray Bush. The loud birds don’t even bother you, someone could drive a Mack truck through a Nitroglycerin factory in your backyard and you wouldn’t know it.

I know my job is different than 99% of the folks in here. It’s amazing sitting outside the hangars on lunchtime, watching these Air Force pilots get their flying time/required hours in these F-15 Eagles. It never gets boring. They’ll take off, pull back, go absolutely vertical with both afterburners kicked in. Straight vertical, they’ll hit 20/25K feet quick. Some pretty cool *s-wordt, and they’ll come back over the flightline at low ceiling cutting up.

I started out as Bulk Fuel, specialized in Aviation fueling. Then attached to 3/4 in Al Qa’im, then ran security, on to Division, then MARSOC, ground safety officer for a Wing (amongst a slew of other billets and the Shooting Team) then Wounded Warrior Battalion. I got around.

Not the place for detailed discussions. I’m not an operator. I did some very specialized support, an Afghan deployment with them (CJSOTF-A) and spent 3 more years there before promotion forced me to move along.
Don’t think I’m busting your nutsack young man. I spent 8 yrs in the Corps. It was a different time, a different era. You get your disability upped, be done with it. I know you were up for Gunny...that’s a good thing Fit-Rep wise. Take whatcha get...

@usmcbuckwild ...you deserve the money, the monthly payments....it takes a toll on the human body. I volunteered to leave the Air Wing back in the late 80’s to serve with Division grunts from Lejeune. They were CRC’s (Combat Replacement Companies)....during the first Persian Gulf War. It was a little more *f-worded up than the story books tell...it sure as hell wasn't Iraq and Afghanistan...

Don’t you fret brother...I honor you for your service...and you’re pretty damn good at this saw porting stuff as well. I couldn’t port a saw for *s-wordt!

Semper Fi my brother!
