IDK, I have a firewood customer that collects cast iron cookware. He says the best thing he has found for rusty pan resto is the cheapest spaghetti sauce on the shelf.
I know it worked on my mom's copper bottom pans back in the day. Obviously the acidic nature of the tomatoes is what is eating the iron oxide.
Right. I think this is for start over from scratch type of situation.I've seen spaghetti sauce mess up a good seasoned Dutch oven once.
Like Mike said the vinegar will amaze you. I have used it on much worse looking axe heads, and they came out like new.
How long? We talking days, weeks...?Like Mike said the vinegar will amaze you. I have used it on much worse looking axe heads, and they came out like new.
Usually 24 hours is plenty, but if real bad just leave it in a little longer. Oil of some sort is important afterwards. How long? We talking days, weeks...?
How about that CLR stuff?
Calcium, Lime, Rust remover.
