If the chain is so stretched a link has to be taken out toss it ,it has been run too hot /lack of bar oil if stretched that bad ,this is why i like .404 ,it hardly stretches ,even milling ,and oils better .

I've never had to take a link out of a chain, but use them up pretty quick. I cut a lot of tree service stuff and some of it is pretty dirty. Stihl chain normally stretches less than other types.

I really enjoy pouring concrete

Taking it out..... Not so much...
It was rough today. That base was 36" deep. I wouldnt be suprised if they went down to 48" with the concrete. It took 4.5 hrs to bust it out. It sucked cause you were on your knees most of the time.

They paid expenses, i did labor, i get basketball hoop.

Hole is dug and pouring concrete tomorrow. Kids will have another great option to burn energy.

This chain may not stretch anymore...ran two tanks today and no tension change. I was just noticing I had less slot left than had been used this AM while cleaning the clutch area out and clearing the bar groove.

Not something everyone may want to do, but if you're getting say 75% chain life before you run out of adjustment, $6 for an 8 tooth sprocket for the remaining 25% is an easy fix

Normally I run an 8. Lately Ive been cutting piles pushed by track loader and excavator....went back to 7 for a bit extra torque and less damage from barb wire collisions.
