Wow, brings back a memory of my 1st real MC, had moped and mini-bikes growing up and wanted a street bike, about 1988. Having never ridden a street bike, or anything over about 185 cc, took a used GSXR 750 for a test drive at the local dealer. Eased thru to 3rd and twisted the throttle wide open going up a hill, front came off the ground and went from 35 to about 85 in what seemed like a second. Eased it back and did a u-turn to the dealer. Ended up with a Honda CM400T for the 1st bike instead, I'd have killed myself on that 750 back then, or ended up like the guy you mentioned! Rode that little Honda everywhere til I bought the Volusia in '01, still have that one!Mornin'
A guy I call him I am speed at work had bought a gsxr 750 this spring
Daily he'd brag about doing 150-170 all the time is
Police had him him pulled over recently
Cop didn't show up to the hearing so he walked
Reckless driving he's one of those lane splitters who likes to cut people off.
He lost control and did a road runner against a wall Weds
He got flung up against a brick wall and slid many feet taking flesh off his arms and legs
Broke a tibia also.
He's new on probation for 9 months can't miss so he's going to wrap his leg up and try to work
I really don't think it's possible.
I saw that a documentary has been released on Netflix, it was so hard watching the news coverage 20 years ago, I am not sure I can watch it again.Good morning, guys. 71f heading to 84 with thunderstorms. There's all kinds of Katrina 20th anniversary events going on today around here. I think I'll pass. We'll raise a quiet glass at home to the first responders, rescue workers and power crews worked their butts off during that time.
He tried to come to work with a boot on his leg they sent him homeMornin'

I remember it well. The response was agonizing to see. The things that stand out in my memory are:Good morning, guys. 71f heading to 84 with thunderstorms. It was really weird hearing the news out of New Orleans about looting, cops confiscating guns, and all that, because my part of mississippi was like a different planet!I remember it well. The response was agonizing to see. The things that stand out in my memory are:
-Kanye west saying ‘George Bush doesn’t care about black people on Live TV while Mike Myers stood next to him stone-faced
Looter guy carrying a Rubbermaid tub full of Heineken

Are you near the coast? I recall a bunch of casinos getting washed away down there. Katrina hung out over Mississippi longer than anywhere else. They seemed to have better preparations and a sense of urgency with regard to evacuation. We got the tropical storm in West TN.It was really weird hearing the news out of New Orleans about looting, cops confiscating guns, and all that, because my part of mississippi was like a different planet!
FEMA response wasn't bad, and the National Guard was exemplary. They had set up a field hospital by the 30th, and the next day trucks started showing up with food ice and water. Most people were cool and cooperative.
Just a little whine here: the media was all over New Orleans and the flooding while right next door in Mississippi, we had 33 feet of storm surge and massive wind damage. The eye of the storm passed right over my house. I think the cluster jerk in New Orleans just made better entertainment.
In summary: the news media can eat the corn out of my poop.
We're about ten miles north of the beach and about 12 miles east of the Louisiana state line, maybe 60 miles NE of new orleans. Are you near the coast? The media definitely focused on New Orleans. Who knows how different it would have been if their flood walls were up to par. Just the utter chaos in that city, made for ‘good tv’.
It was the first time I ever saw gas go over $3 since I lived here.
Glad ya survived to tell the tale @59billy !
