@Mastermind . What was your favorite framing hammer? I have a Hart wooden handle California framer that is my all time favorite. Found this 21oz Craftsman framer at my brother's house and brought it home. This is the hammer I would list as my #2 favorite. View attachment 466908
I ain't master of any minds however, my favorite when I was bending nails was a 19oz Vaughn with a curved handle for a Cali type checker faced framer.

I bought one of those . Just not a fan of the bent handle
Also a non-professional but still have a 22 oz fat max anti-vibe framer from about 18 years ago, has built 2 house additions, a chicken house, a bunch of decking & steps, and pounded thousands of fence staples. All metal hammer with slight grip swell at end of handle. Face checkering is pretty much gone though.

Brings to mind my 1st checker face framer, got it for birthday in March about 1994, 24 oz Plumb fiberglass handle, blaze orange rubber grip. I was building deck and steps in the VA mountains, cold as heck that year. First damn nail I drove with it, 16d spiral attaching stringer to post, smashed my left thumb so bad I could pull the nail out of the bed. Threw that damn hammer 100' down the hill into the creek in the woods. After talking to nurse found out I should not have removed thumbnail (may impede re-growth or some such *s-word), so I shoved it back into the bed with needle nose pliers. I seem to remember bourbon taking the edge off that evening. Was a week before I went down and found the hammer....Hmmmmm...may still have that in the truck toolbox!.
Sorry for long read...
