I don't think it has any performance impact other than the port being visually annoying.

KS made fantastically nice 262 cylinders, and 254 cylinders, from 87 to around 98-99 on the latter.

They made a smaller batch for 242 around 90-92, good timings but with less nice ports, more casting slugs etc.

They can, but they can't, is my experience with KS.
My 242 is a KS cylinder. Over 200 psi of compression stock. It’s harder to pull than my 288.

I got the kids at work donuts
They got me a Panera bread Italian sub yesterday that was very good I haven't been to Panera in over 20 years.
My helper made a mistake and I told him not to worry I'll fix it in 20 minutes and I did.
They mandated us 12 hour's and he threw a fit
I tried to calm him down he made over 500.00 with overtime but he said I've got 20k saved up I'm going to live off-grid and play guitar
So he resigned and walked out
Genius he is.

Dad took his trapping money from the 1977-78 season and bought his first 4 wheel drive in June 1978. It was a F-150 with a 300 6 cyl and 4 speed. That truck is still in the shed. I had a 80 F150 4x4 with the 351M/400. It literarily rusted itself to an early death. The 1980 models were horrible rusters. I bought a well used 88 F-250 with a 300 6 cyl and 5 speed and never bothered to even title it as I just ran it from farm to farm. My brother had one of those goofy 1980's Ford vans spliced to a dually box. Then he bought a 86 F-350 dually 2wd with a 6.9. It would pull good but get stuck on a fly turd. There were also a few ugly ass 1988 F-250's with 460's. One of those caught on fire coming down highway 22 pulling the cattle trailer full of lumber. Yep that made a helluva fire.

The truck that I cannot believe Ford made or anyone bought was the one my Father-in law had. It was a 1986 F-350 with a with a 300 6 cyl and 4 speed He bought it from a short lived pet food company. The damn thing had a 12ft van body on it. He took it off and built a 12 ft flatbed for it. In 1995 I put the GN flatbed on it and headed south to get a Oliver 88 tractor. The damn truck had no oil pressure!! He said it was fine that was the way it always was. A month or so later he put the big stock trailer on it full of horses and headed out to South Dakota with a group. Well those guys all had diesels and he was trying to keep up. You can guess it...........she puked.
We have an 86 4wd F350 with a 7.3. The cab was rusted to death when we got it, but the dually bed is in good condition. The engine needs work though. Got another one with a good cab. Not sure what I'll end up doing with all that stuff.

There are donuts that are just for kids? I've never met one that couldn't be for me.

I'm washing the 242, there's a bit to do, including generator repair, seals, etc.
But in a little better condition than I expected, but they cost a lot of money to service, $100-150 is pretty much where I land.

Between washing rounds I took the time to buy a Meteor 357, two for 246, and five 242 caber rings, coming from the Greek.

One of my sons had a 96 F350 4x4 long bed 4 door straight axle with a 7.3 5 speed in high school.......great truck for a 15 year old..:) The thing pulled like a freight train but was a money pit. I had a 2002 Dodge 2500 ext cab, long bed that ate 5 or 6 transmissions. I bought a 2003 F250 extra cab short bed with a 5.4. The damn thing was so high geared you could cruise at 100mph easily. A local county cop claims he saw me running around 120mph one night but it was at the end of his shift and he was not going to screw with me. I personally think he was full of manure as I think the computer would not let it get that high but I am not a auto tech. I do know the ting was gutless when pulling. The damn oil pan rusted out so bad it literally fell off. Then I bought a 2005 F350 King Ranch 4 door SRW short bed with a V-10. That thing was sweet with every damn option.......even butt warmers. It had plenty of trailer pulling power and would pass everything but a gas station

Evening humpers-of-knuckles.

Was working on the ole backhoe today...
Let me back up. So, i bought a backhoe just before Thanksgiving last year.
Then Bosslady got really sick and you know how that turned out.
So now im working my way through that project. Mid 1970s-ish JD410.
Runs like a top. Starts IMMEDIATELY above 50°F. Trans seems good. Clutch. Hydraulic pump has great pressure. Tires are in really good shape. Boom hasnt been broken and welded on, so its got a lot of good points, but....
Previous owner was unaware of a tool we like to refer to as a "grease gun". Some of yall may know what these are, and may also know what happens when they arent used....🤦
Water pump rear bearing is out. I was expecting a new one today, but i think UPS lied to me.
Backhoe lever linkage Heim ends are sloppy AF. Im not paying JD what they want for them, so i improvised. Need to get some non finished 5/16" machine spacers to weld in for the lower link pins, and they should be more-gooder.
