Stihl makes good chains, even the green ones aren't bad. Lol
I think a lot of people falsely equate the green links as "safety bumpers" or "training wheels" when they just want to run their saw at 30,000 rpm with the depth gauges filed all the way down... :D

@AlfA01 This thing is working great Danno! I ran a gallon and a half through it and it easily would have pulled more. That’s a huge improvement over cone filters. I just took it in for a cleanup while waiting for the next batch to boil. Couldn’t be happier…🙂IMG_1431.jpegIMG_1432.jpegIMG_1433.jpegIMG_1434.jpeg

Well fellers, after doing some chores I decided to give the 359G-357XPM a go, after a finer break in tune setting and suggested warm up it cut damn nice and am really happy with the outcome that was "Not So" certain. I won't be missing that old Stihl so much now. :)

That’s a slick setup. I built mine a little more redneck and used a shop vac for suction. They are game changers for sure!

I need to build a tray for the filters to set on. Can’t really change/remove a pre-filter without the whole deal falling into the bottom pan. I have it figured out in my noggin, shouldn’t be too difficult. Yep it’s definitely a game changer.

Would something like a flat mesh pizza pan work?

Something like:

I used the lid that came with my bottom pot and drilled a buncho holes in it. It works pretty well. I’ll try and remember to get some pics. Although it’s buried in the basement currently. Yours looks way more gooder than my hillbilly engineering.

Exactly. I plan to remove the latches from the bottom pot and add four tabs to the inside for it to sit on. Some longer pop rivets to hold it all together.

I played around with that idea too.

Good afternoon loons,

I've been listening to music, working on the wiring for the tractor lights. The last thing I have to wait for is the wires coming from the UK, automotive wires. While I've forgotten most of it, I haven't forgotten the basics from my time as an electrician.
I still have a bit to tidy up. Maybe I'll take a picture or two if anyone is interested in seeing a cluster or two of wires.
The MTA system is good, enough variety so that there is creativity, really good terminals.

Are there any of you who are good with windshield wiper relays? What is what etc.

Tomorrow I'll get the chains off and put on the timber claw, not sure the winch will come on as I plan to chop around a field. 242 xpg as always

chainsaw projects on hold, missing 346 xpg flywheel and it should be finished, haven't decided on carburetor yet.
246 - porting.
242G - porting
357 - missing crankcase
2x242xpg, 246g, build from scratch.
That should be it, + 2 Stihl from neighbor, a brushcutter for another neighbor, and two 5xx troubleshooting.

Now tea, and bed !

Nice. Glad it’s working for you DJ. I’m taking some notes. At 10+ bucks per Kg local price, I don’t want to go throwing away good olive oil. The remnants/sediment from olive oil is used for soap and candle making.

Happy to help. Shoot me a message if you have any questions. I have a good local source for flat filters depending on what you use for oil.
