Yup, good old classy clamshell:

Not something I'm a fan of, but I'm completely out of suitable 346/353 bottom parts, thought as a summer saw it would certainly do its job, hopefully
My 346 play saw is built on a 340 chassis like that one. Even squeezed an HDA-198 under the hood. :)

I put some aluminum tape on the area below the muffler to help deflect the heat away from the plastic case. :nusenuse:

Thanks for the great tip Steve.
I have to check around in local shops but I know they sell heat tape.

I only had plans to build one but it seems that I had bought 2 oem bearing kits, so it will most likely be two clamshell builds.

Not a big favorite of them, but it's been 5 years or more since I last had a 346 that was worth building with new bearings etc. Have a couple of new NE cylinders lying around, but this one is getting an OE which I'm going to port.

Still have two hda-199, they have new gaskets, and a new hda-198. I have little left these days from the good old days.

Just had the drug truck show up on site to test everyone. We had a few runners. What a joke.
You might consider yourself lucky to have anyone show up and still have an active job site. Customers in MN are notifying us that all jobs are on pause, no one is asking the workers to risk arrest. @stihl livin are you seeing / hearing similar?

He'd answer, but he only has one phone call.

I’m not hearing much about anything since I haven’t been to work in two months. I know my roofing siding friend can’t get anyone to go to work. The job I was on was all Latinos and their boss hired a security guard to prevent any unwanted people entering their new job site.

What did I miss? Why have you been off for 2 months? Your knee again?

Yep. My new doctor changed my restrictions and the shop couldn’t work with them. They have since had two people quit and I heard they have no work. I should be getting a call tomorrow to schedule this injection they are hoping will work. If that doesn’t work then doctor thinks we should do a partial knee replacement. FML. I just want to get back to normal

Good morning. -26F and wind of 25 mph. 🥶
Last night while filling the wood boiler straight from the North by Northwest came a toot from @GCJenks204 flying by. I'm here to officially report the hint of Maple doesn't cover it up at all like they say it does. LOL

Snowpocalypse has been changed to snow followed by freezing rain.

Single digit lows this coming week. Not as crazy as some of y’all but cold for me.

Plenty of oak on the porch and making soup tomorrow to bring in the frozen stuff.

Marty sez bring it on
