Northern Wisconsin warmer early this morning than N. Indiana. That doesn't happen often.Good morning.33F

Well dudes, I put an arrow through one this morning. It stepped forward just as I released. Hit looked back. By the blood on the arrow I'm thinking liver.
Just went and looked, couldn't pick up any blood beyond where I shot..
There's a local guy who does drone recovery with thermal imaging. $300 for 2 hours. He said overcast or night is best. He will be here at 6. I really hope he can locate it..

You hit somewhere with a lot of blood vessels/arteries for sure. I would agree with liver or possibly between the liver and diaphragm.
We call that the dead spot. It's the one area on the deer where there is nothing to hit with an arrow to inflict any damage whatsoever.99% certain we found it. On its feet, sparing with the same smaller buck from this morning. The thermal and camera on the drone is wild. Can plainly see a hole through the deer, below the spine and above the lungs. It's walking around just fine about 200 yards away from where I shot..
Not the outcome I wanted but I'll at least sleep tonight knowing it's not just laying somewhere.
I hit a buck in that same spot one year with a 12ga shotgun slug, and he just kept following the doe he was trailing without missing a beat. 5 minutes later my Uncle shot him and he had that fresh wound just under the spine and above the lungs - it was wild.99% certain we found it. On its feet, sparing with the same smaller buck from this morning. The thermal and camera on the drone is wild. Can plainly see a hole through the deer, below the spine and above the lungs.
