Northern Wisconsin warmer early this morning than N. Indiana. That doesn't happen often.

Last regular season football game for the year. Not going to complain about the 55f sunny weather either. The next time we are back is November 16th for the League Championship game and I foubt itbwill be this comfortable.

Well dudes, I put an arrow through one this morning. It stepped forward just as I released. Hit looked back. By the blood on the arrow I'm thinking liver.
Just went and looked, couldn't pick up any blood beyond where I shot..
There's a local guy who does drone recovery with thermal imaging. $300 for 2 hours. He said overcast or night is best. He will be here at 6. I really hope he can locate it..

You hit somewhere with a lot of blood vessels/arteries for sure. I would agree with liver or possibly between the liver and diaphragm.

I agree. There was another buck and they were kinda posturing at each other. He moved forward unfortunately when I let the arrow go.
It was dead calm and quiet but wet this morning. Both deer took off and I didn't even hear a twig break when they hit the trees. Lost sight soon after and with no sound or blood to give a direction, I'd be searching blind.

99% certain we found it. On its feet, sparing with the same smaller buck from this morning. The thermal and camera on the drone is wild. Can plainly see a hole through the deer, below the spine and above the lungs. It's walking around just fine about 200 yards away from where I shot..
Not the outcome I wanted but I'll at least sleep tonight knowing it's not just laying somewhere.

99% certain we found it. On its feet, sparing with the same smaller buck from this morning. The thermal and camera on the drone is wild. Can plainly see a hole through the deer, below the spine and above the lungs. It's walking around just fine about 200 yards away from where I shot..
Not the outcome I wanted but I'll at least sleep tonight knowing it's not just laying somewhere.

We call that the dead spot. It's the one area on the deer where there is nothing to hit with an arrow to inflict any damage whatsoever.
