I wouldn't myself. Most all are made in China and just different paint, sticker and engine differences. After replacing the engine, pump, tires etc., on my box store rig it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to buy new. The one I would love to get my hands on is from Northern Tool, it has a commercial engine and American made pump as well as a filtering set up for the hydraulics. Right now for the next few days they are advertising free shipping on orders over $99, I'd try 'em out on that.

Back in the 80’s when northern hydraulics was just starting my dad and uncle made all the splitter bodies for them at their fab shop. But eventually they ended up finding a foreign shop to supply bodies like everyone else to remain more competitive. Maybe the new ones are fabricated in the states again but I don’t know. I’m sure they’re better quality than the black diamond 27 ton I have no matter what though. Mine has a 6 hp China Briggs on it, runs well but have to see how long it all gos.

They're not advertised made in the USA like they used to be, just some of the components is all.

@sawmikaze one thing to note buying from a box store, some black Friday deals can be had when that time comes around. Also, a name brand engine, while not commercial grade will have an advantage of buying replacement parts at least, even if it is engineered to only last a couple hundred hours of use for the EPA.

He kinda needs it now, I got him in on that firewood deal I made with those people that own the farm we can dump at. He called me about 10 minutes ago and said he's probably gonna jump on it with the free shipping deal.

I started the day by buying used parts, a 234 parts saw, I needed the carburetor and the sg decal, my 234sg is starting to be complete now. I think I just need the air filter and the speed lock.
Going to do some mechanics tonight, working on a saw for a customer of mine, right now the pot is getting painted.
