I don’t quite understand the joke that your wife didn’t understand. I know before I said I hated tech, and that’s true, but if I won the lottery for millions I’d buy some new cars, the Cadillac Blackwing being one of them.

This was told to me by my uncle, I personally never saw one do it but he did. Had a bolt on hinge plates assembly he had to put on with a backer plate. Maybe they were spot welded and sealed/glued on the seam and it was just done poorly. Was a late 80’s Chevy after the square body was done. Think he said they only had issues on 88 and early 89

lol so the ones that still had full length pins and bushings no adjustment
if they were not maintained and bushings no longer worked you had to buy a door
so not a factory problem but operator error
and if they was just glued id still like to see it lol
