Evening pre and post- menopausal bishes.
Got to have a little fun today and sweat some couplings on for a shutdown job we are doing over Christmas.
150 HP hoist motor with brake and dual encoders(for position/over-run control).
The gearbox is a 1:1 power divider that feeds two right angle planetary gearboxes that drive the dual hoist drums on a 150 ton hoist. Its a ring-and-pinion gearbox.
Couplings are .002" interference fit. Thats all that holds them in place, but better than compression couplings etc if done right. That means the hubs are .002" smaller than the shafts they are to be mounted on.
Use dry ice to cool and shrink the shafts, and heat the hubs on an induction heater to around 325°F. Slide right on there.
This is one case where a BFH does you no good.
Have to use science and maffs n stuffs.
